W.R. Henderson Quarry Makes a Bid to Resume

The W.R. Henderson Quarry, also known as the Old Andrada Quarry (located at Wentworth & Sahuarita Roads), has made application to the State of Arizona to resume operations as an "Existing Aggregate Mine".

This action comes four years after Henderson's federal mining plan of operations and reclamation plan (on Federal lands, submitted through the BLM) were remanded to the Tucson BLM from Washington D.C. due to lack of completeness and inaccuracies.

Since that date, Henderson has been running a crushing and sorting operation, contracted out to Lamb Rock.  The scope of this operation, all on Henderson's private land and Fee lands, is significant enough to warrant concerns regarding water, air quality, noise pollution, increased traffic and other environmental issues.

The official notification required by the state regarding the plan can be found here.

The Reclamation Plan can be downloaded here.

The response to state mine inspector can be found here.

A public comment period will begin on October 1st, and last through October 15th.
