1. Important Upcoming Meetings:
a. Tuesday, April 5th 2010, 9am, Pima County Board of Supervisors
1. The Pima County Board of Supervisors on Tuesday will vote on a resolution opposing HB 2617, a measure before the state Legislature that would substantially amend state regulation of mines. Among other provisions, the bill would prevent state agencies from imposing regulations that are more strict than federal regulations without approval by the Legislature. It has cleared the House and awaits Senate action.
2. Possible Sahuarita Landfill closure discussion. It will address the landfill situation as a whole in Pima County, which will include but is not limited to, the Marana Landfill and the Sahuarita Landfill. If you wish to attend we would encourage it and you can speak in favor of it not closing. If you can not attend you may send letters to Cherry Rosenberg, Office of Ray Carroll, District 4.

Tuesday, April 13, 2010, Tucson Electric Power (TEP) Public Information Open House, 5:30-8:30 p.m., Corona Foothills Middle School, 16705 South Houghton Road, Corona de Tucson
TEP has identified preliminary transmission line route alternatives for a 138kV transmission line to the proposed Rosemont Mine, should the mine be approved. The public information open house will provide an opportunity to review and comment on the alternative routes. You may attend any time between 5:30 and 8:30 p.m. A brief, formal presentation and question-and-answer session will be held from 6:30 to 7:00 p.m. each night.
For more information, including maps of the proposed routes can be viewed at: Rosemont/docs/Rosemont_Project_NewsletterMarch2010.pdfhttp://tep.com/Company/News/
This is particularly important for those who live in the Corona de Tucson area as one of the proposed alternatives is aligned very closely to the southern boundary of the town. Additionally, the same alternative could impact those who live in Mt. Fagan Neighborhood near Camino Aurelia and South Houghton.
